Too Good, Yet TRUE

“He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.” Matthew 28:6

“When they saw Him they worshipped Him, but some doubted.”  Matthew 28:17

It’s an astonishing thing to read that people who walked with Jesus and saw Him with their own eyes after His resurrection still doubted. How can someone doubt when He’s standing right in front of you?

It makes you wonder why? But I think the answer may be more simple than we think and that is, that the gospel of Jesus Christ seems too good to be true, but that’s the thing… this story of Jesus; this good news, is TOO GOOD, yet it is TRUE.

We were all left to the cries of our hearts that echoed,  I’m a sinner. I’m lost. I need saving. I need hope. I need reviving. I need a second chance. I need healing. I need forgiveness. I need mercy. I need love. I need help. I’m anxious. I’m embarrassed. I’m numb. I’m angry. I’m hurting. I’m confused. I’m lonely. I’m sad. I’m sick. I’m broken. I’m nobody. I’m ashamed. I’m barren. I’m divorced. I’m insecure. I have no purpose. I’m tired. I have no motivation. I feel stuck.

That is until Jesus of course…

A perfect man gave His life for an imperfect people. It was His great love that led Him to a cross to pay a debt He didn’t owe. It was his death that paid for all the sins that left us lifeless and lost and because of His resurrection we can now be brought back to life as He says to us:

I’m JESUS. I’m your Creator. I’m your Savior. I’m your Friend. I’m your Healer. I’m your Comforter. I’m your Prince of Peace. I’m your Provider. I’m your Restorer. I’m your Miracle worker. I’m your Mediator. I’m your Wonderful Counselor. I’m the Gracious One.  I’m the Righteous One. Father to the Fatherless. I’m your Redeemer.  I’m the Resurrection of life.

Still not enough?

I’m your Good Shepherd. I’m the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. I’m the Man of Sorrows. I’m the Great I AM. I’m Immanuel (God with you). I’m your Deliverer. I’m Your High Priest who sympathizes with you.

Need more?

I’m the Light of the world.  I’m your Advocate. I’m the Bread of life. I’m your Hope. I’m your Rock. I’m your Strong Fortress. I’m Lord of All. I’m the Forgiving One. I’m the Merciful One. I’m the Compassionate One. I am the Son of God. I am The Way. I am The Truth. I am The Life. I am the Messiah. I am LOVE.

This is the simple gospel and this is why we celebrate today. Jesus is everything we need! His resurrection was meant to bring us back to life. Now, we no longer have to live with the weight of life’s sorrows, pains or sins that hold us down without any hope. We are free in Him!

So we are left with a choice; to believe or to doubt?

My hope is that you would believe this good news that seems to good to be true. But if you have some doubt, you’re not alone, even His disciple Thomas who stood right in front of Him doubted, yet Jesus just came closer and allowed him to touch His pierced hands and said, “Do not be unbelieving, but believing.”

I pray that as Jesus comes closer to you and reveals Himself to you that you would not be unbelieving, but believing. One step at a time is possible with Jesus. His love is too good, yet it is true.

He is risen. Risen Indeed.
